COURSE OBJECTIVES
With both wired and wireless telephony networks that delivers voice service for decades, the update cycle always focus on data bandwidth. The two important points, one is fiber optic to subscriber’s home and other is LTE in smartphone, are always taken into serious consideration during the network update. Mobile network is expensive to build for testing and private network.
OpenBTS is an open source software project dedicated to revolutionizing mobile networks by substituting legacy telco protocols and traditionally complex, proprietary hardware systems with Internet Protocol and a flexible software architecture. This architecture is open to innovation by anybody, allowing the development of new applications and services and dramatically simplifying the setting up and operation of a mobile network. With open source openBTS, it is possible to build GSM and UMTS network.
Many places on Earth still do not have home telephone lines or mobile network reception. OpenBTS can convert and distribute Internet connection as a mobile network across a large geographic region.
After successful completion of this 5-day workshop participants will be able to
- Understand the overview of OpenBTS and how it is implemented on the existing telecom network.
- Learn the requirements and other related components
- Understand the configuration and installation
- Explain on the cellular protocols including how the cell parameters and features are being mapped to the code function
- Gain knowledge on multiple parameters that are used in OpenBTS
