Optical Transport Network (OTN) Workshop

COURSE OBJECTIVES

As the backbone of many telecommunications networks, Optical Transport Network (OTN) plays a crucial role in ensuring reliable and scalable connectivity, making it a cornerstone technology in the digital communication landscape. The ability to adapt to varying network demands, dynamically allocating bandwidth resources as needed makes OTN a well-suited for supporting the ever-expanding data requirements of modern applications and services.

Telecontran’s Optical Transport Network (OTN) Workshop defines the requirements for the Optical Transport Network (OTN) in terms of OTN hierarchy, functionality of the overhead, frame structures, bit rates and formats for mapping client signals. The course discusses the major changes in the fields of optical fiber types, access and backbone, as well as optical networks and network protection and gives a compact overview of the innovative potential of high-performance optical technologies and how different types of signals are carried over OTN.

After successful completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Understand advanced optical communications topics as well as advanced DWDM Network Designs and Engineering
  • Understand the protocols and hierarchy of Optical Transport Network (OTN) along with the basic concepts of OTN.
  • Learn OTN network principles along with the multiplexing and mapping of the OTN signal.
  • Describe the features, functionalities, architecture and building blocks of OTN.
  • Sketch the functions and process flows associated with the defined OTN interfaces.
  • Learn about MPLS and MPLS VPN and how to use MPLS efficiently in DWDM and Optical Networking system.
