COURSE OBJECTIVES
Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) emissions and related harmful effects on biological systems, particularly on human beings, have started engaging significant attention of general public. The situation has changed significantly during the last few years with the proliferation of cell phones, related base station towers and other EMR sources.
Numerous recent scientific publications have shown that EMF affects living organisms at levels well below most international and national guidelines. Effects include increased cancer risk, cellular stress, increase in harmful free radicals, genetic damages, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system, learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on general well-being in humans. Damage goes well beyond the human race, as there is growing evidence of harmful effects to both plant and animal life.
After successful completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Understand the features and characteristics of EMF along with Ionising and Non-Ionising Radiation.
- Understand the health effects of EMF on the human body
- Develop in-depth knowledge of the Electromagnetic Fields Regulations
- Provide an insight into the principles of controlling EMF exposure
- Select and operate suitable EMF monitoring equipment and perform risk assessment surveys to address both thermal and non-thermal effects of exposure.
